I LOVE watercolor's loose free flowing characteristics.  Adding texture gives watercolor lots of dimension, beauty, and interest.

Below, I've outlined 6 simple watercolor texture techniques that are super easy to experiment and play with. The outcomes of texture techniques will always vary slightly, but the out comes will be gorgeous every single time. 

Lifting 

The techniques below are called lifting, meaning that some watercolor is being "lifted."

The lifting of paint creates different opacities and one of a kind textures.
